I'm the tremendously lucky byproduct of a chance encounter between a charismatic fighter pilot and a tough Oklahoma cowgirl. He came from three generations of Montana pilots living for adventure. She came from generations of Oklahoma cattle farmers with an uncommon love of the beauty of knowledge — fed by lying under unpolluted stars, asking what we're doing here.
I believe deep care applied to anything begets quality — and whatever quality I have was poured into me by my family and community.
They trusted me to run around free and love whatever I choose to love, which for me was making things: treehouses, cattle fences, bootcamps for the tribe of kids, gardens, or a self-created outdoor camp where I'd take stolen math textbooks on my own quests in the pursuit of beauty and order.
We are so fucking lucky to exist. I want to feel all of it at full intensity, understand the beauty that underlies it all, and leave the biggest ripple for good in spacetime that I can conjure — in whatever form factor needed.
